HVAC service and maintenance

If you have dealt with one of us, you may not have realised you can call on the other. Norvent and Halesowen Gas Services are part of the same group, working from the same base in Cradley Heath in the West Midlands. Between us we cover just about everything mechanical in a building, from a domestic boiler through to a factory-wide extraction system.

Two separate teams, two sets of specialisms, one group behind them. This is who does what.

Why there are two companies rather than one

Because the work is genuinely different. Servicing a boiler in a three bedroom house and replacing an air handling unit on a swimming pool roof need different engineers, different qualifications, different equipment and, frankly, different working days.

Trying to do both under one badge tends to mean doing one of them poorly. Keeping the teams separate means each one stays properly specialist, while a client who needs both only has one group to deal with.

What Norvent does

Norvent is the engineered systems side of the group. We design, install, service and repair mechanical services for industrial and commercial sites, and our work is usually project based rather than a single visit.

Local exhaust ventilation systems, including design, installation, statutory testing and remedial work

Our clients include JLR, BMW, Bentley and Aston Martin, alongside local authorities, police forces and public health bodies. If the job involves ventilation, extraction, ductwork or process pipework, it is ours.

What Halesowen Gas Services does

Halesowen Gas Services is the heating and cooling plant side of the group, with over 25 years behind it. HGS looks after the equipment that heats and cools a building, across domestic, commercial and industrial properties.

  • Domestic Boiler installation
  • Boiler servicing, repairs and breakdowns
  • Air conditioning installation
  • Air conditioning servicing and repairs

HGS works with housing groups, landlords and commercial clients as well as a long standing domestic customer base. If the job is a boiler or an air conditioning unit, it is theirs.

When a building needs both

This is where being one group actually earns its keep. A school, a care home, a housing scheme or a manufacturing site rarely needs one thing in isolation.

Take a typical example. A site needs its boiler plant replaced, its plantroom pipework reworked to suit, and its ventilation system upgraded at the same time, all inside a six week summer shutdown. Split across three unrelated contractors, that becomes a programme management problem, and the interfaces between the packages are where projects usually go wrong.

Across the group it is two teams who already work together, one commercial relationship, and one point of contact when something needs a decision. The packages are sequenced properly because the people sequencing them talk to each other every day.

What this means if you are procuring work

For anyone putting work out to tender or running a framework, the practical benefits are straightforward. One group gives you combined coverage across gas, heating, cooling, ventilation, extraction, ductwork and pipework, with two sets of accreditations behind it and enough resource to hold a programme when something slips.

It also means fewer suppliers to prequalify, fewer sets of documentation to chase, and one conversation instead of several when a project spans disciplines.

Frequently asked questions

Are Norvent and Halesowen Gas Services the same company?

No. They are two separate companies within the same group, based at the same address in Cradley Heath. Each has its own team, its own specialisms and its own qualifications.

Can I get one quote covering work from both?

Yes. Where a project spans both companies, it can be coordinated with a single point of contact rather than managed as two separate jobs.

Does Norvent do boilers?

Yes. Norvent carries out commercial boiler and heating work, while Halesowen Gas Services covers both domestic and commercial boilers. For commercial projects, we work together to provide the right team and accreditations for your site. If you’re unsure who to contact, either company can help.

Does Halesowen Gas Services do extraction or LEV?

No. That is Norvent’s side of the group.

Do you both cover the same area?

Both are based in the West Midlands. Norvent works nationally on project based mechanical services, with completed projects from Milton Keynes to Lincolnshire. HGS works primarily across the Midlands.
